Many of you have asked questions like "how did you get started" or "how big are you", etc. I have always enjoyed sharing the stories behind these question in person, over the phone or in email. After hearing over and over that we should tell the story on our site, well, here you go.
MinistryWeb.org was created as a sister site to Hostek.com to offer special pricing to churches, ministries, christian schools, etc.
When we founded Hostek.com in 1998, we knew that providing excellent hosting services started first and foremost with 'great customer service'; which is the core in all things that we do. As we grew and gained vast experience, we also realized early on that having the best hardware also must play a critical role.
Over the years, we have invested heavily into our staff, our hardware and our network infrastructure. We have been diligent about staying up to date with utilizing only the latest servers and network storage from Dell, utilizing top of the line firewalls and DDoS prevention devices as well as implementing vmWare, the very best virtualization software available.
We have always maintained a passion for providing quick and accurate customer service. We accomplish this by hiring excellent team members and constantly monitoring average response times as well as the quality of our answers. You can be sure that Hostek.com has you, the customer, in mind in all that we do. Better solutions and better service - for you.
After about a year Hostek.com got our own server through a colo facility. After a couple more years Hostek.com got our own servers, racks, switches, firewalls, etc. As Hostek.com grew, we made major improvements to the quality of servers we use. Hostek.com now only uses top of the line Dell servers. Our network administrator continues to make improvements in our network constantly. Hostek.com continually works to improve our switches and use top of the line firewalls. In case you are interested, we use a couple of the IPS 5500 Toplayer Mitigator firewalls. Backups... we can't forget the backups. We now have several redundant backup servers for storing the nightly web, email and database backups.
Within a couple of months of starting Hostek.com, our first affordable hosting service, we knew we wanted to do something special for churches, ministries, missionaries and other non profit organizations. We had a meeting and agreed to offer really special pricing discounts to this group. Not only do we offer special pricing to christian and non profit groups, but we are also Christian owned and operate based on integrity.
Control panels... as many of our long time customers know, we started with no control panel. Over time Hostek.com began offering the Helm control panel and the cPanel control panel. With the acquisition Hostek.com made in the fall of 2007, we began also offering the Plesk control panel. With a few years experience with the Plesk control panel, we are in the process of phasing that out to focus on cPanel and our own custom built control panel.
Not only is Hostek.com growing by word of mouth and many other avenues, but we are growing by acquisition too. As I mentioned above, in the fall of 2007 Hostek.com acquired a small hosting company in Georgia, USA. They had several hundred customers and was a great first buy for us. Hostek.com is continually looking for other hosting companies to buy, except on a bigger scale now; so if you know of a hosting company looking to sell, let us know. In case you are wondering, no, we are not looking to sell.
What can I say... our support team is just AWESOME! Our team is focused on answering your questions very quickly, and generally we answer most questions in 5-45 minutes. Do you like calling or emailing a support line to just to find out you are dealing with someone in another country, that just repeats your problem back to you? I seriously doubt it. That is why we are a 100% USA based support staff, along with our servers and our sales/support offices also located in the USA.
